How do we use plants medicinally?

Inquiry into medicinal and edible plants is a unit designed to help students understand the scientific process and application of the process skills to the familiar area of plant gathering and use.

Three Strands of this unit simultaneously prepare students to participate in a culminating activity that requires students to:

1. Host a community celebration focused on products made from wild plants and using appropriate local protocols
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the scientific method and use process skills to draw conclusions on topics related to plant use
3. Make a presentation that demonstrates technology skills and summarizes new understandings developed through scientific investigations
